A one-person studio / 2026
I kept needing these tools, so I built them.
Placeholder Industries is just me (rural Colorado technologist, Becca Williams). Everything here started as something I needed on a client or internal consulting project, or personally. This is my AI portfolio home for the “art of the possible.”
What I’ve built
Some of this started as client work. No client data, confidential information, or proprietary materials were used, processed, or shared in building any of it.
Enterprise
Three toolsCopilotCopilot (opens in a new tab)
Microsoft ships Copilot changes faster than anyone can keep up with the release notes. This watches the Message Center and roadmap for me, scores what actually needs attention, and flags the agentic pieces — Copilot Studio, Agent Builder, Cowork — before a client asks me about them.
Deal Architect (opens in a new tab)
Scoping a delivery engagement is mostly pattern-matching against every deal you’ve done before. This runs the discovery with me, drafts the SOW, and helps me pressure-test the negotiation before I’m in the room.
Modernization Modeler (opens in a new tab)
Modernization plans live or die in the executive conversation. This models the timelines, cost, and constraints so I can walk a room through the trade-offs without hiding behind a forty-slide deck.
Personal
Five projectsThe Menopausey Guide (opens in a new tab)
Perimenopause help is scattered across a hundred tabs that don’t agree with each other. This is the front door I wanted — a curated, human-reviewed directory you can search by symptom or by name, out loud if typing isn’t happening, with an AI guide called Char to help you sort through it.
Menopausey (opens in a new tab)
The Guide is the on-ramp; this is the whole thing. Around 7,000 menopause-informed providers I scraped, deduped, and geocoded myself, plus symptom tracking, a community, and Char — shipped solo on a real production stack. Password-protected while I keep building.
A Values Layer for AI Agents
Every AI assistant runs on somebody’s values — usually a company’s, usually unwritten. This writes them down as a set of documents: a constitution of what the agent is for and refuses to do, hard-stop rules, rubrics for auditing its behavior, and a credit file naming every thinker the ideas come from. Made to drop into any project, with a second version in corporate-governance language.
BettyMax
A chat thinking partner that pushes back instead of agreeing — it challenges the assumption underneath your question first, on a dial from gentle to full sparring partner. It’s that values layer put to work: every claim gets traced to a named, credited source — disability justice, Indigenous knowledge traditions, feminist economics, permaculture, community organizing, and HCI research on AI that argues rather than obeys — along with what that source misses. Runs entirely on-device on Llama 3.2 3B via Ollama, network off — or on Claude when you want more range.
Dead Pixel Collective (opens in a new tab)
Satire about ageism in tech. The industry treats a certain age like a dead pixel — a defect to route around. So we put it on the masthead.
About
Some of what’s here started as client work; some I built just because it should exist and didn’t. Either way it’s working software rather than slideware — rough where rough is fine, careful where it counts. Building the thing is how I work out what I actually think about the thing.
